What you are signing up for

A dating service. You take a quiz and give us a rough location. If we are not running matching in your area yet, you wait, and Longhand will email you if and when it opens there. We are not promising that it will.

Where we have opened, you are shown one match at a time on a schedule. Nobody has to accept, a conversation only opens if both people do, and photographs are exchanged only after three days of talking and only if you both agree.

You have to be 18 or over

By signing up you are confirming you are 18 or older.

The United States only

This service is offered in the United States. Every area it runs in is a US metro, prices are in US dollars, and it is not offered anywhere else.

Putting a pin outside those areas puts you on a list to be told if we open there. It does not open matching where you are, and nothing on this site is intended for people outside the United States.

Money

A stamp is what opens a conversation. New accounts are given enough for one, and more can be bought. They are a token for using this service, they have no cash value, and they cannot be transferred to anybody or exchanged back into money.

Stamps are not chat credits. A stamp is spent once, to open a conversation with somebody who said yes to you too, and every message in that conversation is free after that, for both of you.

Nothing here is charged per message, per reply or per photo, and nobody is paid to talk to you: every conversation is with a real member who chose to match with you.

If you open a conversation and the other person never replies within 72 hours, the stamp you spent is returned automatically.

The refund stops on any reply at all, even a single one.

Stamps are bought one at a time and nothing about them renews. A subscription is $20.00 a month and covers every conversation for as long as it runs.

A subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it, and your card is charged each time without asking again. You can cancel at any point, from the billing page linked in your wallet, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for rather than immediately: you keep what you bought. There is no cancellation fee and no minimum term.

Cancelling stops the renewal. It does not refund the month in progress, and it does not take away stamps you bought separately.

If you bought stamps within the last 7 days and have not spent any of them, write to support@joinlonghand.com and we will refund the purchase in full. Beyond that, and once any of them have been spent, purchases are not refundable except where the law where you live says otherwise.

The walkthrough at /demo is a simulation. No card is collected there, and the balance it shows you is not real.

How to behave, and how we end it

Do not harass anybody, do not send anybody pictures they have not agreed to receive, and do not use this to reach people who have blocked you.

Do not aid, abet or encourage anybody else in any of that either. Helping somebody abuse another person here is treated the same as doing it yourself.

You can block anybody, and blocking is permanent and one directional. The other person is told nothing beyond the conversation ending. You can also report somebody, which files a copy of that conversation for us to read.

We do not review photographs before they are sent. A person reads every report, and one report is enough to remove an account.

No human trafficking and no sexual exploitation

You may not use Longhand for human trafficking, sex trafficking or forced labor, or for the sexual exploitation of anybody, adult or child. That includes recruiting, advertising, transporting, harboring or coercing a person for any of those; buying or selling sex, or offering money or anything else for it; and making, sharing or asking for sexual content involving a minor.

An account used for any of this is removed permanently and reported to law enforcement, and anything involving a minor is also reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

This is a term of this agreement in its own right. The acceptable use policy says the same at more length and does not replace it.

Be accurate

Give us a real name, a real date of birth, and real answers. Accounts that do not are removed.

We can end this

We may suspend or remove an account at any time, and we may shut the service down. If we shut it down, we delete the data rather than sell or transfer it.

You can delete your own account whenever you like, from your account page, and it happens immediately.

No warranty

This is early software provided as is. It may be broken, it may lose something you sent, and it may go away.

We do not promise you will be matched with anybody.
