You have to be 18 or over

This service is for adults. You have to be 18 or over to make an account, and a date of birth is required at signup. If we learn that somebody is under 18 their account is removed and their data is deleted.

Nothing here is for minors, and no part of it may be used to contact one.

No illegal acts

Do not use this service to commit a crime, to plan one, or to arrange anything that would be illegal where you or the other person is. That includes buying or selling sex, buying or selling drugs, dealing in stolen goods or weapons, and laundering money.

This is not an escort service, a sugar arrangement service, or any other paid-companionship service, and accounts used that way are removed.

No impersonation

Do not pretend to be somebody you are not. That covers using another person's name, photographs or details, presenting yourself as a real person who exists and is not you, and claiming to speak for Longhand, another company, or law enforcement.

One account is one real adult. An account run on behalf of a business, or by anybody other than the person it describes, is removed.

No sexually explicit content

Profile photographs must not be sexually explicit. Nudity, sexual acts, and content whose purpose is sexual arousal are not allowed anywhere on this service, including in a conversation with somebody you have matched with.

This is a photo-blind service: photographs are not shown until both people in a conversation agree to release them. Agreeing to see somebody is not agreeing to receive anything sexual.

No child sexual abuse or exploitation

Any content that sexualises a minor is forbidden without exception. This includes photographs, drawings, generated images, and text.

An account is removed immediately and permanently for this, and reports of child sexual abuse material are referred to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement. There is no appeal.

No sexual violence and nothing non-consensual

Do not threaten anybody, do not describe sexual violence to somebody who has not asked to discuss it, and do not send anybody a photograph they have not agreed to receive.

Do not share an image of another person that was taken without their knowledge, or that they gave you privately and did not agree to have shared. Threatening to share such an image is itself forbidden and is grounds for removal on its own.

No trafficking of any kind

Human trafficking and sex trafficking, and any attempt to recruit, advertise, transport, or coerce a person for either, are forbidden. Accounts are removed and reports are referred to law enforcement.

No scams and no fraud

Do not use this service to defraud anybody. That covers asking a match for money, for gift cards, or for cryptocurrency; investment and trading pitches of every kind; phishing for account details; and pretending to be somebody you are not in order to get any of those things.

New York law requires us to tell you plainly that romance scams happen on services like this one, and that you should never send money to somebody you have not met. If a match asks you for money, report them.

No harassment, and no getting around a block

Do not harass anybody. Blocking is permanent and one directional, and making a new account to reach somebody who blocked you is itself a reason to be removed.

Phone numbers are verified at signup where that is switched on, which is what makes a block mean something.

No aiding, abetting, or encouraging any of this

Everything above applies to helping somebody else do it. Aiding, abetting, or encouraging abuse of another person or of this service, whether that is passing on somebody's photographs or details, helping somebody get around a block, recruiting for a scam, or egging somebody on, is treated the same as doing it yourself, and the account is removed.

That includes conduct off this service aimed at somebody you met on it.

How this is enforced

You can block or report anybody you are matched with, from inside the conversation. A report files a copy of that conversation as it stood.

Every report is read by a person, and one report is enough to remove an account.

We do not scan photographs before they are sent: no face recognition, no age estimation, no automated content scanning. Reports are the mechanism.

If your account was removed and you believe that was wrong, write to support@joinlonghand.com and a person will look again and get back to you.
